Vegan Street Fair, Vegan Cooking and Writing

Watching:  Corner Gas (Season 6) & Corner Gas the Movie Eating: Vegan Meat Pie Reading: Hammered by Kevin Hearne We went to a Vegan Street Fair and it was the bomb! There were so many food tents and a lot of them offered gluten free options. Emory had 10x more options though since he doesn't have to worry about being gluten free. We did split up on the food choices. I went with Japanese sushi and he went with tacos. He also ate pizza. We got so much junk food. We tried a lot of foods too and got tons of samples.  Vegan Fungi Sushi for me Wicked Kitchen Taco for Emory It was a good weekend and then on Sunday we came home and cooked spaghetti squish, chili and a vegan meat pie which made two pies and is surprisingly really good. I get most of my recipes from Instagram. 90% of my follow list might be vegan chiefs. So the meat pie was a brand new recipe for us. Chili and spaghetti is a given. We eat that stuff all the time. We haven't made beans and rice for a while. Emory cal...

Commune Farmer, Hospice Donations and Writing

Watching:  Corner Gas (Season 5) Eating: Garden Bowl  Reading: Hammered by Kevin Hearne Minus the rocky plane trip, the mini vacation in Arizona was nice. I got to visit two communes and of course, Mr. Jeffery's quiet home. Farmer Bill teased me about my cooking but did say I could call with any food related questions. I could probably call him for anything, but it's fun, so any food questions I have when Emory isn't available to answer (the actor's life), I can call Farmer Bill. I did drink two heavy handed screwdrivers. I never should have let Jeffery measure out the vodka. He got me drunk.  I went over to help with what was left of the estate sale. He had a lot of things from an auction so that was cool looking at. We are just donating what's left. I took a couple books for myself and I believe something was living in the books because I got a pretty nasty little handful of bites. They don't look like they belong to a spider because those are distinct, but th...

Arizona Communes, 2nd Hand Stores and Writing

Watching:  Corner Gas (Season 2) Eating: Sofritas Bowls Reading: Hammered by Kevin Hearne I'm getting on an airplane and I'm not sure how I feel about that. It's time to see Jeffery, who now lives with only one other person. He left the commune, but the commune has asked me to see if he'll come visit so Stephen and I still need to ask if he'll go.  There is another two communes that have someone drifting between the two that I'm going to visit on Friday. She agreed to meet for dinner. Ann is going with me since she's my driver while I'm out there.  So much is going on and it makes me nervous to feel so busy. My only real purpose is to visit Jeffery since he hasn't been feeling so great lately.  I'll be working from home next week, so that'll be nice. It's a thirty minute commute and traffic is always crazy. Then after work, I meet Emory at the gym. My goals are to stop hurting all the time. His goals are strength training. It sucks waitin...

The Commune and the Estate Sale, Gin Routine and Writing

Watching:  Chuck (Season 5)  Eating: French Fries Reading: Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones The Phoenix commune has come together to help a friend with an estate sale. I am not in Arizona so I couldn't help, but it's great when the household puts their mind to a task. Ann said that there was a line of people waiting before they even were ready to open the doors. They sold an entire bedroom set (because that's something we all have in spades when you live in a commune), a pole table, a bookshelf and tons of other items. They are planning to do this for a couple more days and then they are donating everything to a number of charities. Apparently Ann knows people who sew so a lot of the fabric was donated to this woman who teaches young people how to sew. Dishes are going to a homeless charity that sets people up in housing until they get back on their feet. Any religious items went to the church. Still, they have so much.  Ann was telling me about this home remed...

Super Bowl Parties, My Muse and Writing

Watching:  Chuck (Season 4)  Eating: Fajitas and Margaritas   Reading: Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones We were invited to a Super Bowl party by one of Emory's friends. Emory played pool and there was a lot to eat. Most everyone there seemed to be actors and actresses, but I met an actress who said her agent represented comedians. That's what I'm interested in going into, but I need so much training and I need a demo reel. The demo reel I have shows me really nervous and blowing my comedy routine.  We went to Ventura for President's Day. We planned on hanging out at the beach but it was really cold, cloudy, windy and the likes, so we ended up packing it up and heading out for lunch at Rice, which happens to be one of my favorite restaurants. We visited Goodwill and bought a handful of books though Goddess knows why when I have enough books I've already collected and am still collecting the series of. It was a nice day and I got more shells for my specialt...

Black Sails, Wandering Neighbor and Writing

Watching:  Black Sails (Season 4) Eating: Salad with nuts   Reading: Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones I'm really digging Black Sails because it has characters from Treasure Island thrown in. Now some of the pirates were real people and if you know a little about their history, well, I think the television series plays it out well. The only thing that gets me is when it slows down. I'm a little less chatter and all about the fights. There are a few gory scenes that really turned my stomach. There is a lot of nudity too. I personally think that if you're going to show women naked, it'd be fun to throw in a few nude guys too 😉💖. There was a few scenes (few and far between and not very distinct like the women) that flashed across the screen.  Our new neighbor was around for about a day. He lived in a tent outside our apartment. Sue said that the city hands out tents to the wanderers. He screamed a lot. I was able to sleep through it, but it was harder for Emory...

Sewing Kits, Jobs and Writing

Watching: Being Erica (2nd season I believe)     Eating: BBQ Tofu with Mushrooms Reading: Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones Sue just made it back into town after visiting the caravan family up north. I'm going to visit her this weekend because my favorite vegan bag (that I got at the Veg Fest) has a sizable rip in it. I love this bag too. I have another one that says "Vegan Day" on it that I really like, also canvas. Sue said we could come up and sew it so after the gym, we'll be heading towards Porter Ranch ( a super nice part of town) to sew. I invited Sue for drinks, but she wasn't too committal about it.  I told Ann that I needed to go to Sue to sew my bag and she drilled me about not having a sewing kit. Apparently every household needs one. 😊 So I kind of know what I'll be getting for my birthday which is more than half a year away. She might forget. It'll be nice to have a sewing kit, but I'm really scared that I'll drop a needle...

Party Apartment, Salem Tourist Photo, and Writing

Watching: House on Haunted Hill 1959     Eating: Chili and Corn Chips Reading: Hexed by Kevin Hearne We started to watch Beaks, but the animal abuse looked extremely realistic. I can't stomach it. I couldn't stomach American Mary either and we know that WAS fake, so I think I have a weak stomach towards abuse. As the Wiccan Rede states "Live and Let Live. Fairly take and fairly give." It's a good mantra.  We live very close to the college- walking distance close- so I think we have a lot of college students in this building. It always smells like weed in the hallways and even floats in from our patio door. It's kind of funny because you can't party here without everyone knowing about it. Here is an older photo we took when we went to Salem. Yes! Couldn't resist the tourist trap of dressing up and taking photos!  Writing Update Can't decide if I want to write another FanFic or if I should try finishing the story I started a decade ago. Part of me t...

Hippy Shampoo, Vegan Virtual Party and Writing

Watching: Being Erica (Season 1) Eating: Gluten Free Burrito   Reading: Hexed by Kevin Hearne (book 2😁) Playing: Lord of the Rings (Wii Lego) Listening: To drama channels Sue made a bunch of scented shampoos and gave us three different scents. I really like the different scents and the fact that it was homemade. I love homemade surprises. She also took a class on making lotions and body wash. It's always fun to try them.  I forgot what my wedding dressed looked like so we pulled out our wedding photos and there were so many moments I forgot about. I took a picture of the hard copies with my phone and sent them to my caravan family.  Emory and I spent Christmas in Arizona. It was so much fun. We visited all the caravans that were in Arizona. There were a lot of late nights. We ate. Drank. Partied. And at the end of all that, we went to Bookman's and bought.... 19 books. Yeah! 19 books. I got a bunch of paranormal fantasy and Emory got sci-fi fantasy. He actually found mor...

California Drought, Caravan Family and Writing

Watching: Blacklist (Season 2) Eating: Gluten Free, Vegan Lasagna Reading: Hounded by Kevin Hearne (I have 6 of these books 😁) I heard on the radio that California is officially in a drought warning. I hear that our water supply is low and so far, we really haven't gotten a lot of rain. It's cloudy, but no rain.  The medical facility that I'm currently enlisted with, is on strike. I should have gotten my medications sooner because I'm almost out and the pharmacy is also on strike in solidarity to the nurses. I hope the nurses get the pay raise they're asking for. From what I hear, most medical facilities might be giving their nurses a raise, but my facility is not. I am hoping that the facility comes to a good compromise for both parties so the nurses are taken care of. That said, I hope they come back soon because I really don't want to go off my medication.  The caravan family is coming out for the holidays! We're going to Universal Hollywood. I'm a l...

Live Band Music, Pumpkins and Writing

Watching: Q-Force (on Netflix) Eating: Popcorn Emory and I went up to Ventura for the weekend. There was live band music by the little restaurant we chose to eat at. The music was good and then DJs took over and got the crowd dancing for giveaways. They were giving away kid bicycles, stuffed animals, pictures of superheroes, and a few adult items that I didn't exactly see. Part of me thinks a coffee maker had to be among the gifts, but that might be my wishful thinking because I love drinking coffee all day. I'm the type of person that would have two coffee makers on hand.  I thought we'd make it to the beach but we didn't. I did find a book at Goodwill and then we went to the bookstore down the street to see if they had any of the books in the series I'm reading, but they didn't. Emory found some fantasy novels to read. He likes the trilogies that have wars among kingdoms.  The pumpkins are finally out at the grocery stores!  Writing Update: Dead in the wat...

Dollar Tree Glasses, Spirit Store and Writing

Watching: Batwoman (so bloody awesome!) Eating: Cotton Candy My friend Jen suggested I go to Dollar Tree and get readers. She said they were the cheapest way to get glasses; however, we did go and I tried on all the different frames ranging from 1.00 to 3.75 and they all made my vision blurry. I guess I don't need readers. I'll actually have to go get my eyes checked, which I dread because they blow air into my eyes and dilate the pupils. I hate anything medical, but I probably won't take my anxiety medications to go see the doctor. My aunt says that once I have my prescription, that I should go to Costco because they have the best deals. I've paid a lot of cash for glasses in the past and all I really need is a cheap pair, maybe two pairs to keep in different places since I only need them for reading. I got a notification that the Spirit Store is now open. I love it! and since we aren't doing anything big for Halloween this year (thanks Covid), going to the sto...

Long Sock Kinks, Dollar Tree Hauls and Writing

I was watching Dollar Tree hauls and this lady hauled really long socks. It reminded me of my teenage years when I was really into Japan. I was taking Japanese language classes and I really wanted to go over as a teacher (another story). Anyways, I found this website called Long Socks. The young woman showed pictures of her hometown. She talked about her life living in Japan.  So I noticed on the side bar that there were links to other "long sock" blog sites. I excitedly clicked them to find out that they were a little too salacious for my current (under) age. That's when I realized that Long Socks is a very real KINK . The first website I found on the subject just happened to be very "under the radar" so I never noticed that she showed her legs with long socks in most of the pictures of temples, of streets, etc. I don't think that stopped me from reading only her page though, because I was still hungry for Japan and it was fun reading her blog posts that w...

Movie Theaters, Reading and Writing

The movie theaters are finally open again and I can hardly wait for the movies I want to see. A long time ago, we use to go to the movies a few times a week, and then we decided to start paying all our debt off so the theaters was one of those things we stopped doing. With Redbox and Netflix, we really haven't gone back to the theater, but since we haven't done anything for a year, we decided that going to see one movie wouldn't hurt. We're not sure what to see yet, and this is probably a one time deal. We won't be making it a habit because the theaters are pretty expensive and we can't skip out on the popcorn, so it's super expensive for us to be going. I think the last time we went, everything together was $40 to $50 US dollars and that's for one movie, (two adults, popcorn and a drink). It looks like Halloween Horror Night!! is now open for tickets or so it seems 😁😀😎. I really want to go, but with the Delta strain in the air, I'm a little spook...

Snacks, Personal Pictures and Writing

We have two pools and a hot tub here at the apartment and I think I've only been in the hot tub once. Since my workouts are so rough, I really should be hitting up the hot tub more. It might help with all the pain that I swear feels like it's in my bones.  My nieces won these glasses with game tickets. I have yet a new trainer and she likes to talk. I'm not a very outgoing person. I don't know why, so I don't have a lot to report to her. She wants to know what my weekends are like. I mostly cook for the week and watch movies. Right now we're watching Doom Patrol and so far, I really love the story. Usually I start getting bored when a story is super long, but it holds my interest. Maybe because it's DC.  Oreo cookies have the gluten free option and I've gotten package after package of it, but I can't control myself and all the sugar is making me a little sick so I am trying really hard not to throw it in our grocery cart.  Dates, Peanuts, Peanut Butt...

Gym Training, Sugar Rush and Writing

Watching: Doom Patrol Eating: Sweet Potato Casserole I love wine with pasta. It was a conversation I had with my trainer. I bought training sessions over a year ago and then everything shut down. Now that the gym is open I have the training sessions again.  This is my third trainer. The other two quit. I like this one, but boy am I tired when we're done. I like the results but I hate working out. I'm finally getting the body I want. Emory and I made rice crispy treats and these vegan Snickers (candy bars). The Snickers we used dates, cut them in half, put peanut butter inside them, two peanuts and covered them in chocolate and stuck them in the fridge. They're really good. I think we're really strung out on junk food right now. We've been trying to limit how much of it we eat, but it's hard when we both crave it. I've been watching Dollar Tree shopping hauls, but my Dollar Tree never has any of the items that others find. It's really disappointing. I...

Arizona for the Weekend, Fireworks and Visiting Family

We drove to Arizona for a couple of days. The older I get the less fun the drive is. I don't even have the pre-excitement for the drive, but getting out there is great.  Ann and I hit up three different Good Wills. She doesn't like the company and I just sort of now understand that Emory doesn't either. The company started out promising, but I can't speak more on it because I don't fully understand everything that goes into the politics of the company.  Ann and I hit up three separate stores for me to find books and for her to find art. I love finding obscure novels, hopefully novels from the 80's, but on this trip, I found a lot of Urban Fantasy and Fantasy novels. I bought Emory a couple books and the rest are mine, though sometimes I find a really interesting storyline that I think he'll read. After all, he did introduce me to the Anita Blake series, so anything similar to that, I toss his way.  I now have enough books for the rest of the year, but I have...

Personal Trainer, Paranormal Haunts and Halloween Horror Nights

I have a personal trainer again. Finally started going back to the gym and I had some credit for personal trainer sessions. It's kicking my ass. I asked for muscle building sessions and this trainer is ruthless and he laughs when I tell him that. His goal is to make me stronger and he's doing a really good job. I can see muscle lines plus, before the training I used to wake up with the worst knee pain. The pain would wake me up in the middle of the night and I'd be stuck trying to walk off the way the joints felt locked. It's not the same as a Charlie horse. This felt like my joints would lock in place. Anyone else have those problems? Since I started working out, my joints haven't been locking. It's only been a few weeks, but it's helped a bit. I need to keep this up even past the training sessions. I started watching ghost hauntings in other states. I would love to join a paranormal investigation team, but I'm on the fence. A large part of me believes ...

Shut In Fears, Beach Days and Writing

I'm staring to feel afraid to leave the house again. So Emory decided to take us up to Ventura for the day. Not going to lie, it was still rough. I feel this overwhelming sense of dread when I leave my living space. I feel it nonstop and being out for the day doesn't save me from it, no mater how lovely the day is or how great the company. I DO love all the thrift shops on Ventura Mainstreet. Nothing like looking at all the books someone decided to hand over to a place. I found two books, an anthology about detectives and another about magick realms. I love reading at night before I go to bed.  I have a new job so I can now listen to YouTube while I work. I've enjoyed listening to the horror stories. I have a few of my favorite storytellers. I've also been listening to Missing 411 stories, about people who disappear in the forests. It's really changed my mind about camping or even doing the haunted forests like 7 Gates of Hell and Bridgewater Triangle. I keep seeing...

Character Play List, Daddy Long Legs and Writing

I made a playlist for one of my favorite characters that I really enjoy writing about and lately I've been listening to that playlist nonstop. I have to be careful not to listen to it before I go to bed because it really charges me up and makes me want to write.  I found another spider today in the bathroom. A "daddy long-legs" and he was hanging out in the sink. He really scared the hell out of me when I saw movement, because the guy was a little bigger than what I've been seeing around the house. I gave him his space, but I'm not naming him because I've only seen him once and he might not be in the same location tomorrow night. I don't kill spiders.  We finally moved into our new place. It's spacious. I didn't really think we'd unpack all the boxes, but Emory did. I knew we had a lot of stuff, and seeing all of it gives me good memories, mostly cooking memories.  Now I have a gluten allergy so that's changed a lot of what we can make. Not...
