Failed Mix Drinks, Cone of Shame and Writing

I tried to make myself a Starbucks drink but I added too much milk and it ended up tasting like milk with coffee spilled into it instead of coffee with milk. It was disgusting. Too hot to be a cold drink and too cold to be a hot drink. Lukewarm is not a good flavor for milk. I used Oatmilk, which Starbucks has the option so I know it tastes good in the drinks they make, but I couldn't replicate it. So much for saving a couple bucks on drinks. I think I just talked myself into making some tea. 😝 We have the "cone of shame" on Mozart because he won't stop licking his little foot and I think he caused a sore on it. It's lumpy and bad and the doctor won't see him until June 8th so we're seeing if we can heal it ourselves before then. It's really looking 100% better and he has stopped trying to get to it with the cone on so I think it's helping it to heal. We've been giving him other things to lick like peanut butter, but a small amount because he...

Revolving Redondo Beach Door, Tea Bars and Writing

What a great weekend! We went up to Redondo Beach for the weekend. The caravan family has a condo up there and it's a revolving door for the family, (which family is not always the people you're related to).  We walked about 23,000 steps in one day. We found a tea bar called Racer, which has the best teas that they mix with oatmilk, which is my favorite milk. I don't remember the drink Emory got, but on the second day, I got the Hillbilly which had bourbon flavors, so good.  We went to listen to the live band on Saturday night and we did more walking on Sunday. We found a gift for my brother-in-law that I think he'll find hilarious.  The caravan family is going to be leaving for Canada at the end of the month so we'll be watching both places for a while. They shared some of their plans and it sounds like they're going to have a real adventure. Can't wait to do some traveling too, but we'll have to wait a little bit. Most of our sightseeing is going to b...

Pepper Chocolate, Books and Writing

Book Club book of the month: Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus This was one that I had chosen to put in my reading list, but it looks like it was voted before it's my chance to host. Now I need to find another three books to put up for vote. Richard had a good suggestion and I wrote it down, so we'll see what the ladies decide.  I got a chocolate bar from the grocery store that was on the clearance table thinking it would be nifty. Vegan chocolate can be pretty $$$. So I gave it to Emory and he said, "Oh, this is going to be hot." I thought he meant the popping candy would be hot so I told him it was only candy. He said nothing and stuck it in the basket.  A few days later, I opened the chocolate and at first it wasn't that bad. The popping candy really takes your mouth by storm and then.... THE HEAT!!!  OH-MY-GODDESS!!! That chocolate is hot! Because it has peppers in the chocolate. I was not expecting that and since we both only tore a little piece off with ...

Vegan Candy, Traveling Communes and Writing

Easter has come and gone and all the goodies are on sale. Emory and I got ourselves three oatmilk chocolate bars that were made in Germany and some YumEarth Chewy candy (kind of like Starbursts). I ate all my Chewy candy and really wish I had the foresight to have bought more than I did. The chocolate is to die for! It's so good. Emory and I both agree that next time, we're buying the whole box.  Farmer Bill and Cowboy Jim are going on a cruise to the Caribbean. Ann, Darlene, Sue and Mr. M are going on a cruise to Canada and stopping for a few days in Massachusetts. My only request is for Ann to bring me back a rock if she's going to Salem. I lost the rock that I had brought back for myself. So everyone is leaving town.   We had our monthly book club meeting. The morning snacks are wonderful. We were all hoping that our host would make margaritas. I never had them from the host but the other book club members have and said she makes really good ones. I sat with a do...
